Welcome to West Jeff Baseball
SKILL EVALUATIONS FOR 9-14 YR OLD COMPETITIVE TEAMS:
AUGUST 23, 2025, EVERGREEN HIGH SCHOOL
- Registration now open!
- The WJBB Skill Evaluation for spring 2026 is Aug. 23, 2025 at Evergreen High School Baseball Field.
- Skill Evaluations: This skill evaluation tests players in a number of areas: hitting, fielding ground balls, base running, catching fly balls, long toss, and pitching.
- Attendance is Required for all players seeking to find a spot on a Competitive West Jeff Baseball team. Come baseball ready and leave plenty of time for warmup.
- Missed Skill Evaluations? If you move to the area and miss the Aug. 23 events, please contact westjeffgm@gmail.com to see if we can work with you to find a team for your player.
- Team Formation: We build teams to give every player the best chance to learn, grow, and have fun. After Skill Evaluations, players are placed where they can develop and succeed. At 9U, Competitive baseball begins, and teams are created through a draft process to keep things fair and balanced. Players get the chance to meet new teammates and coaches while learning in a positive environment. For 10U and older, we balance continuity with flexibility. Coaches can keep returning players, and families who want a new experience can choose the draft. New players and those in the draft are placed thoughtfully by our Draft Committee based on evaluations and team needs. Our goal is simple: build teams that support growth, sportsmanship, and a love for the game.
- Practices can begin anywhere from January to March, depending on the coach. Coaches choose practice days and times for their individual teams. Some teams invest in indoor practices during the winter months, before outdoor fields are open.
- Season Start and End Dates: The 14-game Competitive league season starts mid-March and goes through mid-May for 14 yr olds; and April 1 through the end of June for 9-13 yr olds.
- Complete the Season/Keep Your Commitment: As a courtesy to your teammates, their families, and the opposing teams, it is important that WJBB players/families follow through with their baseball commitment each year and complete the scheduled season they sign up for. When there are not enough players, teams have to forfeit games. Communicate with your coach well in advance about any family trips that could impact the season.
- Registration for Competitive league opens in July, ahead of skill evaluations.
- Pricing: The 2025-2026 fee for competitive baseball is $375. This fee includes game and practice fields, umpires, team equipment, and insurance. Uniforms, tournaments, and indoor practices (scheduled as needed by coaches) are not included.
- League games are typically played on week nights; half in the Evergreen area, half at fields in the Denver metro area. This leaves weekends open for those teams that wish to participate in tournament play.
- Players can become part of the Competitive league starting at age 9. They must be 9 by April 30 to play with the 9-yr-old division. Our parent league allows players to join teams that reflect their "grade" age too, even if they've not met the age criteria. There is also opportunity for players to attend skill evaluations in an effort to "play up" if they don't meet the age or grade criteria.
- Ages/Grades: The 9U division corresponds with third grade; 10U, fourth grade; 11U, fifth grade; 12U, sixth grade; 13U, seventh grade; 14U, eighth grade.
- Refund Policy: If a player is not offered a spot on a team, they will receive a 100% refund. Refunds for the cancellation of a registration prior to team formation will include a $25 processing fee (plus credit card fees, if applicable). No refunds will be given after a player has accepted a team assignment during team formations. WJBB must receive the cancellation via email to westjeffgm@gmail.com. Some medical exceptions may be considered.
- Younger Players: Looking for programming for younger players? Check out our Rec League for 4-8 yr olds. Look under the "Leagues" tab for more info. That registration opens January 1.
