When is the deadline to register for Rec League?
Registration for the upcoming Recreational League season opens January 1. Registration closes March 1 so that teams can be formed, but additional registrations will be accepted after March 1 if space is available. Prices increase after March 1.
Can both boys and girls play?
Yes. Both boys and girls are welcome at all levels of play with West Jeff Baseball (Recreational League: 4-8 years old and Competitive League: 8-14 years old).
What equipment will my child need to play baseball?
Your child will need a pair of cleats, a glove, and an athletic cup for boys. Batting helmets will be provided by WJBB, along with catcher's gear and bats.
Will my child be provided a uniform?
Each player will receive a shirt, ball cap, and a pair of baseball pants. The uniform is to be used for game days. This uniform is kept by the player at the end of the season. The cost of the uniform is a portion of the registration fee.
Who will coach my child's team?
Coaches and Assistant Coaches for both our Recreational (4-8) and Competitive (8-14) Leagues are volunteers, and are typically parents of players. Please consider volunteering.
Can I become a coach?
All parents are encouraged to apply for a coaching position. If you have knowledge of the game, can make a commitment to a team for approximately 10 to 12 weeks, and wish to help children learn and succeed, then you can make a difference in supporting youth baseball in our mountain communities. Please see the coaching section of this website for more details and expectations. Apply for coaching when you register your player. You can also reach out to westjeffgm@gmail.com with questions.
What are the rules for my player's age group?
This website contains a link to specific rules for each age group: 5U T-Ball (4-5 yr olds), 6U coach pitch (6 y olds), 8U machine pitch (7-8 yr olds).
Can my child play with their friends?
West Jeff Baseball will do everything possible to place players with peers from their home school area, but such placement is dependent on the number of registrants from each "catchment" area of the community and may not always be possible. We do our best to accommodate parent requests made through the "Special Requests" section in the registration process.
